On Saturday morning, 48 residents and guests enjoyed a presentation at the monthly Saturday Breakfast. Simon Gore previewed a video he is making about the unsung South African heroes who served their country in the Second World War, as remembered by their descendants. The video included an interview with a 102 year old combatant who was captured at Tobruk in the desert campaign. In two weeks time Simon will be returning to Calvisano in Lombardy, Italy to interview the son of a peasant who harboured escaped South African prisoners during the war!
